Misty Moonlit Flatford, Suffolk
Scawgill Bridge, Cumbria, Lake District
Another landscape photo from Cumbria and the Lake District. Taken while on holiday in the Lake District in November 2005. This beautiful and secluded spot is found on Whinlatter Pass (B5292), in the Lorton Fells. As the sun went down it beautifully back-lit the stream, Whit Beck. There was just enough light left to get this shot. Technical Details: Olympus OM-40 + Zuiko 28mm f/2.8. Fuji Superia 200 film (35mm). Hand-held. 1/30th sec @ f/11. Selective burn and dodge layers and toning in Photoshop. DaveBulow Photography Blog. Seafield Bay, Brantham
More old landscapes from East Anglia. This photograph was taken one cold December bank hoilday in 2006, when I joined a group of friends on a walk in the area of Brantham (near Ipswich). The light that day was incredible. Unfortunately I couldn't make full use of it, since moments after taking this photo, my camera seized up! Toned using a customised 'Gradient Map' layer in Photoshop. Technical Details: Olympus OM-40 + Zuiko 35-70mm f/3.5. Fuji Superia 400 film (35mm). Hand-held. 1/500th sec @ f/11. Selective burn and dodge layers and toning in Photoshop. DaveBulow Photography Blog. Tattingstone
Continuing on the theme of posting older images, here are a couple of photos taken in Tattingstone, here in Suffolk, not too far from Ipswich. These Tattingstone Landscape shots were taken about 5-10 minutes apart, back in 2004, with my old Olympus OM system, near the famous 'Tattingstone Wonder' (folly). Behind the tree in the first shot, on the hill, these two old crates just sat there, looking rather sorry, begging for a portrait. Toned using a customised 'Gradient Map' layer in Photoshop. Technical Details: Olympus OM-40 + Zuiko 75-150mm f/4 lens (tree shot) and Zuiko 28mm f/2.8 lens (crates). Fuji Reala 100 film (35mm). Hand-held. Selective burn and dodge layers and toning in Photoshop. DaveBulow Photography Blog. Flatford Morning Collection
More old landscapes this week I'm afraid.
It was early one cold Friday morning, back in December 2004 when I decided to pack the boot of my old MG Metro with my medium format Bronica SQ-A, tripod, and a selection of lenses. It must have been about 5:30am when I left Ipswich and headed down the A12 for the famous Flatford Landscape.
At the time, the only way for me to scan these negatives was using an Epson Perfection 3170 Photo flatbed scanner before 'burning and dodging' in Photoshop.
Technical Details:
Bronica SQ-A + PS 40mm f/4 lens. Fuji Reala 100 film (120). Tripod. Selective burn and dodge layers and toning in Photoshop.

Barrow Bay, Derwent Water, Cumbria, Lake District
Recently I posted a couple of Lake District photos. Landscape photography is something I haven't done a huge amount of recently, but I do have a few slightly older ones to share, too. Some were shot digital, some on film. Today's photo is one taken at a small bay on the Derwent Water. Photos from this particular spot are always nice, but I wanted to bring out the choppiness of the water early in the morning. Back then I had a medium format Bronica SQ-A with the widest available lens, the 40mm. This is the result, after a little digital post-production. Technical Details: Bronica SQ-A + PS 40mm f/4, 8 sec @ f/11. Fuji Reala 100 film (120). Tripod. Selective burn and dodge layers and toning in Photoshop. DaveBulow Photography Blog.
